SFMS Announces The Filing Of A Class Action Complaint Involving LG’s Home Theater System

October 16th, 2012

On October 3, 2012, Shepherd, Finkelman, Miller & Shah, LLP and its co-counsel filed a Class Action Complaint ("Complaint") in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey on behalf of two plaintiffs and members of the proposed Class, against LG Electronics USA, Inc. (“LG”), alleging violations of the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act, breach of the Nevada Deceptive Trade Practices Act, breach of express and implied warranties. Specifically, the Complaint alleges that the LG LHB975 Network Blue-ray Disc Home Theater System (“Home Theater System”) contains a defect that causes the wireless speakers to have poor or no connectivity to the main unit and therefore, fail to mate, rendering the Home Theater System inoperable.

The Complaint seeks to represent a Class consisting of all residents of the United States who purchased an LHB975 Home Theater System manufactured by LG in the four years prior to the filing of the Complaint. Also, the Complaint seeks to represent two subclasses, including, all residents of Nevada and Tennessee who purchased an LHB975 Home Theater System manufactured by LG.
