Land Rover LR3 Tire Wear Settlement

Summary of Case and Settlement: SFMS announces that on June 10, 2013, the Superior Court of the State of California, County of Santa Clara, the Honorable James P. Kleinberg presiding, preliminarily approved a settlement in a consumer class action which was filed on behalf of plaintiffs against Defendant, Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC ("Land Rover"). The litigation involved allegations that certain Land Rover LR3 vehicles, specifically model years 2005 and 2006, were defective. Plaintiffs claimed that the defect caused allegedly premature and uneven tire wear, leading to allegedly premature tire replacements.

Black & Decker Spacemaker Coffeemaker Settlement

Summary of Case and Settlement: SFMS announces that the Southern District of Florida, the Honorable James I. Cohn presiding, preliminarily approved a settlement in a consumer class action which was filed against Applica Consumer Products, Inc. The litigation asserts that carafes to certain Black & Decker Spacemaker 12-cup programmable coffeemakers are improperly designed and break prematurely, resulting in the handle detaching from the glass carafe. The class includes all persons in the U.S. who have purchased, not for resale, the following models of Black & Decker Spacemaker 12-cup programmable under-the-cabinet coffeemakers: SDC740, SC740B, SDC740BR, SDC740C, SDC740DIS, SDC740R, SDC750, SDC750C, and SDC750DIS.

Volkswagen/Bluetooth Settlement

Summary of Case and Settlement: Shepherd, Finkelman, Miller & Shah, LLP announces that on December 14, 2011, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the Honorable Joan B. Gottschall presiding, preliminarily approved a settlement in a consumer class action, which was filed on behalf of a number of plaintiffs against Defendant, Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. The settlement class includes all persons who purchased or leased the Settlement Class Vehicles, not for resale, in the United States and Puerto Rico. "Settlement Class Vehicles" means the following vehicles distributed by VWGOA: model year 2010 Volkswagen Jetta Sedans (in trim levels Limited, SE, and Wolfsburg), model year 2010 Jetta SportWagens (in trim levels SE, and TDI) and model year 2010 Golfs (in trim level TDI) as well as model year 2010 Volkswagen Jetta Sedan S, Jetta SportWagon S, and Golf 2.5 vehicles originally purchased or leased with the Bluetooth option." Final approval of the settlement was granted by the Court on February 24, 2012.

SRAM Antitrust Settlement

Summary of Case and Settlement: Preliminary approval has been obtained in a class action, entitled In Re Static Random Access Memory (SRAM) Antitrust Litigation, No. 4:07-md-1819-CW, which was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, alleging that Defendants conspired to fix, raise, maintain or stabilize prices of SRAM, in violation of antitrust, unfair competition and unjust enrichment laws, resulting in overcharges to customers who indirectly purchased SRAM. SFMS was one of the class counsel on the Court-appointed Steering Committee working on the case.

The Court has scheduled a Fairness Hearing for October 6, 2011. This date may change without further notice. Any new hearing date or time will be posted on the website set forth below.

Class Action Against Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC Settled

Summary of Case and Settlement: The parties have reached a settlement in this matter. On May 10, 2011, the Court granted preliminary approval of the settlement.

On September 9, 2011, the Court granted final approval of the settlement in this case.

Class Action Against Knight-Barry Title, Inc. Settled

Summary of Case and Settlement: SFMS has obtained preliminary approval of a settlement in a class action against Knight-Barry Title, Inc., Knight-Barry Title Services, LLC, and Port Abstract & Title, LLC ("Knight-Barry Title Group") in the Circuit Court of Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, alleging that Knight-Barry Title Group collected certain fees at settlements from consumers and did not perform the corresponding service in violation of Wisconsin law. Knight-Barry Title Group denies the allegations, but has agreed to resolve the case. Under the terms of the settlement, all class members from whom fees were collected and no service was performed are eligible to receive a full refund of the fees collected. In addition, Knight-Barry Title Group has agreed to modify its practice with respect to the imposition, collection and disposition of the fees at issue.

On April 14, 2011, The Honorable Dennis Moroney of the Circuit Court of Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, entered an Order granting preliminary approval of the settlement of this class action suit.
