Litigation Involving Defect With Scion Rear Hatch Handle
Summary of Pending Case: On February 3, 2012, SFMS filed a class action complaint against Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. and Toyota Motor Company (collectively "Toyota") for issues involving the rear hatch handle on certain model Scion vehicles. The complaint alleges that there is a defect with the handle that causes it to break.
Status of Pending Case: The class action complaint was filed on February 3, 2012 in the United States District Court for the Central District of California. The complaint was dismissed on May 8, 2013. Toyota has instituted a Warranty Enhancement Program for certain Scion vehicles. If you have experienced the breakage of the back door garnish, you should contact any authorized Scion dealer and make arrangements for diagnosis and if applicable, repair.
