SFMS Announces Black & Decker Coffeemaker Settlement

SFMS announces that the Southern District of Florida, the Honorable James I. Cohn presiding, preliminarily approved a settlement in a consumer class action which was filed against Applica Consumer Products, Inc. The litigation asserts that carafes to certain Black & Decker Spacemaker 12-cup programmable coffeemakers are improperly designed and break prematurely, resulting in the handle detaching from the glass carafe. The class includes all persons in the U.S. who have purchased, not for resale, the following models of Black & Decker Spacemaker 12-cup programmable under-the-cabinet coffeemakers: SDC740, SC740B, SDC740BR, SDC740C, SDC740DIS, SDC740R, SDC750, SDC750C, and SDC750DIS.
